You will need:
1 cup all purpose flour 1/2 Tbsp powdered milk 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp yeast 1/2 tsp sugar 1 tsp ground cardamom 1/4 tsp salt 1/3 cup melted butter 40 ml water Dates Mix all dry ingredients together, add butter. Mix. Add water. Mix by hand. You can process the dates in a food processor or by hand (like in the video). Roll out dough and place a layer of dates -- some people prefer a thin layer but I like lots of date filling in my cookies. Roll into a log (see video for details) and then chill until firm. **IN the video, I forgot to do this. Chilling the log makes the cookies keep their round shape when you slice. Slice into cookies and place on a sheet lined with parchment. Bake at 350 F until golden-- my oven took about 20 minutes. Yours make take more or less time so keep an eye on it! This cookie is a soft Iraqi traditional cookie. It has (mostly) all natural sugar from the dates and amazing cardamom flavor. Have fun baking!
