Thanks to withaspin for sending me these festive cookie cutters. To get yours and celebrate your Eid festivities, click here.
to make some totally addicting crackers, check out the ingredient list below. honestly, you can present these on your cheese plate, or pair them with different dips. my father-in-law dips them in sour cream and my sister and I eat them plain while we play Super Mario Bros. either way, they will be delicious.
a while back, I took this recipe from Paul Hollywood (from Great British Bake Off) and I just tweaked it to the version you see below. I'm not one who likes to roll out cookies for hours so I made half of the original recipe, which is what I wrote for you below. if you need to make more, just double the recipe and happy baking!
you will need:
Mix flour, salt, vital wheat gluten together. Rub in the butter until your mixture resembles a coarse crumb. Beat your egg with the water and add to your bowl. Mix until it forms a ball of dough. If you are using two different flavors (like I did in the video) split your dough into two smaller portions and knead in your flavors. I strongly suggest using 2 TBSP of zaatar instead because it tastes so much better. But to each their own. Flatten your dough and wrap in plastic wrap. Let it chill for minimum 30 minutes. Roll out your dough very thin and use cookie cutters to cut out shapes. If you do not have cutters, you can use the rim of a cup for round crackers or simply cut a checkered pattern and make square crackers. Whichever way you decide to shape your crackers, make sure to poke them with a fork before you bake! This lets out steam and ensures your crackers stay flat and look like crackers. Bake at 400F for 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on them so they don't get too toasted. Let them cool on a wire rack and enjoy!
